At least 16 people have been arrested in connection with the violence that occurred in Kwekwe at the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) rally. In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrests. He said they are carrying out investigations and will release more details. “The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the violent incident which occurred in Kwekwe this afternoon in which one person died. The ZRP also confirms that 16 suspects have been picked up in connection with the incident. Police investigations are now in progress and more details will be released soon. President Mnangagwa's office on Friday said the 79 year-old Head of State will remain in the country during his annual vacation, which began on Thursday and will run until February 5.
