Zimbabwean Deported From UK Had Spent 11Yrs In Prison Murder & Mutilating Wife

Following his arrival at the Robert Mugabe International Airport, Gurure was very garrulous when he was being interviewed by national broadcaster ZBC News’s veteran journalist Reuben Barwe.
The convicted murderer said that it is human nature to make mistakes and accused the British of being hypocritical. He accused the UK government of punishing him when they also have blood on their hands. Said Gurure in part,

Vanhu vano kanganisaka. Munhu you make make mistakes. Ivo vakauraya vanhu vangani kuti vatore mapurazi muno umu. Vakayita zvhinhu zvingani? Zvinhu zvinganani zvavakaita?…Vakayita zvinhu zvinorova vanhu ava.

Gurure was sentenced to life in prison in 2011 after he was convicted of beating his partner to death and mutilating her body.

At the time of the commission of the murder, Gurure was 35-years-old. He killed his partner Julia Mubvumba, 44, at her flat in Leicester following a drunken argument. During the attack, Mubvumba suffered serious injuries which included having her liver removed and a finger cut off.

The day after the horrific murder, the 35-year-old rang his partner’s relatives and confessed to the crime. After he was arrested he readily admitted to the charge and pleaded guilty to murder.
High Court Judge the Honourable Mr Justice Keith who presided over the trial sentenced Gurure to life in prison. The judge stipulated that Gurure would be eligible for parole after serving a minimum of 18 years in prison. However, the UK government has now decided to deport all “foreign criminals” back to their home countries.

Following the deportation of the Zimbabweans, the United Kingdom’s Home Office said,

Following a historic landmark agreement with Zimbabwe, we have returned 14 criminals who were sentenced to a combined total of over 75 years in prison. Since January 2019 we have returned over 7,985 foreign criminals from the UK, helping to keep our communities safer.
