She is reported to have succumbed to the Covid-19.
According to reports, Munyaka died on Saturday evening after being rushed to hospital. Meanwhile, she becomes the latest media personality to die of coronavirus. This follows the death of another journalist, Zororo Makamba in March.
Makamba became the first person in Zimbabwe to die of coronavirus.
HARARE, Zimbabwe.(News of the South)-ZBC news reporter Janet Munyaka has died of COVID-19.
The veteran broadcaster had fallen ill some days and been hospitalized.
Meanwhile,another veteran Bulawayo based journalist and owner of CITE media Zenzele Ndebele confirmed that he recovered from the deadly Coronavirus.
“Verily,Verily I say unto you #Covid-19 is real . Asymptomatic or sick but that fact of knowing you have Covid-19 is just something else.You even start tweeting carefully.Yah!Am a war vet. Am now up and about,” said Ndebele.
Elsewhere,former President Mugabe’s obidient son who later on deceived his father by chairing the meeting that ousted the former strongman, Obert Mpofu and his wife Sikhanyisiwe Mpofu have been hospitalised after contracting Covid-19.No much information is yet available concerning this untimely death.
VETERAN journalist and ZBC’s Diplomatic Correspondent, Janet Munyaka, has died. She was 48.
Munyaka died Saturday evening at Harare’s St Anne’s hospital where has had been admitted since last week battling Covid-19.
She is survived by husband Jackson and four children.
Said ZBC Acting CEO Ms Halliet Rushwaya; “This is a great loss to us at ZBC and to the media fraternity.
“Janet was a veteran journalist and a friend to many in the industry. Our thoughts are with her family at this difficult time. may her soul Rest in Peace.”
