POLICE commissioner-general Godwin Matanga’s name has been dragged into an unlawful entry and theft case involving US$152 000 in cash and valuables, pitting prominent corporate executive Grace Muradzikwa and flamboyant socialite Luminitsa Kimberly Jemwa, amid fears of name-dropping and obstruction of the course of justice. Those involved in the case say Muradzikwa has been using Matanga’s name to intimidate Jemwa, who is fighting with the corporate executive’s son Kundai, accused of unlawful entry into his family tenant — Jemwa’s home — and stealing US$32 000 in cash and valuables amounting to US$120 000. Violent Maths Teacher Talent Chingwaru Granted Wish

The unqualified mathematics teacher ordered to perform 630 hours of community service for assaulting one of his students in full view of other learners at a Harare college, has managed to get his unpaid work moved from Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals to Epworth Police Station, near where he now lives. Talent Chingwaru (29) was at the Harare Magistrates Court seeking to be transferred from Parirenyatwa, saying he had changed his place of residence. Ex-Finance Minister Simba Makoni Arrested For Exchange Rate Violation

Former finance minister Simba Makoni appeared in court Tuesday accused of using black market currency exchange rates at his business. Makoni was not asked to plead to a charge of contravening exchange control regulations during a brief appearance before magistrate, Stanford Mambanje. Mambanje released the 71-year-old on free bail. The National Prosecuting Authority charged Makoni in his capacity as the chairman of Powerspeed, which owns Electrosales. An Electrosales outlet in Harare was allegedly found using black market exchange rates for its goods. The official exchange rate was one United States dollar to 93.08 Zimbabwe dollars on Tuesday, but the greenback fetches as much as 200 on the black market. 16 Kuwadzana Sombonyo Party Participants Released Authorities Struggle To Find Charge

The 6 women and 10 men who were arrested over the weekend for attending the now-infamous “Kuwadzana Sex Party” were all freed on Monday. The 16 were released on free bail when they appeared at the Harare Magistrate’s Court. The 16 have been identified as Chibanda Alexio (41), Daniel Dhivala (23), Edward Kanengoni (29), Praisemore Makuni (39), Trust Gamure (21), Spatisiwe Kufa (21), Samuel Makove (34), Paul Nhodza (35), Luis Zvenhasi (26), Mark Tafirenyika (36), Thokozani Tshuma (21), Lydia Nyakutsikwa (36), Mollen Mashangaidze (33), Loveness Zindi and Shylet Simba. 5 injured After Zanu PF Youths Attacks Chamisa Convoy In Masvingo

At least five MDC Alliance officials were treated for injuries on Monday after party leader Nelson Chamisa’s convoy was attacked in Charumbira in Masvingo province, the party said. MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere blamed the attack on “rented” Zanu PF mobs. Chamisa was unhurt in the attack targeting a team driving ahead of him. Dr Phillip Chiyangwa In Court Over Farm Violence

About 30 residents of Old Citrus Farm in Mazowe say they are living in nearby mountains in fear of flamboyant businessman Phillip Chiyangwa, whom they claim has hired police officers to harass them. The villagers have approached the High Court seeking an order to bar Chiyangwa, a Zanu-PF legislator for Zvimba South, from evicting them. The residents claim that they are the rightful occupants of the land.
